Preparing for the Green Moons Festival

by Anvar Ravensong

We continued following the river upstream, following the tracks we had found. After about 5 hours, we decided to head back to the tribe. We arrived back at camp just before dusk. Tovah and Zannok were told they would be on first watch by Letsua. As darkness descended they could see fire reflecting off the cloud cover in the direction we had investigated. The rest of the evening was uneventful. The following morning we decided to visit Rock Bloom & secure the site for the ceremony. Arriving at the site we found that the Raven statue had been damaged, the top half missing. We moved closer to investigate, finding this looked like recent damage. Several of us noticed bare humanoid footprints in the mud nearby. Before long we saw a swarm of Ravens ahead. We tried to avoid combat, but something had riled them. They quickly flew toward us, swarming Zannok & Gruk! Despite being blinded, Gruk mostly took them out all by himself. We continued following the tracks. We soon found the broken half of the raven statue. Nearby a hairy humanoid crouched, crying in the mud. He was inconsolable at first, but Tovah managed to calm him somewhat. He started speaking about how he had been trying to bring the statue head to a beautiful Raven woman. From the description, Anvar recognized this as a Kadlaka. Known for their potent command of magical thunder and lightning. He was very upset that she was not here. He had no argument to us returning the statue head back to it's base. Due to it's weight, it took several hours for the group to drag it back. While we did so, the creature, who introduced himself as Shaggy Shumdell, asked many questions. He asked who we were and if there were more of us. He told us more about the Kadlka. He had seen her on a nearby hillside several days ago. He was a wanderer, but had been here for about a month now. He agreed to help us lift the statue into place. Anvar created a glue from sap that Nic collected to cement the top in place. Then Shaggy volunteered to stone shape the statue together... We then returned to the tribe, brining Shaggy along. Wipa was happy to meet him. Eiwa took him off to speak with him at length. We then had the rest of the day to do with as we wished.
That night Tannek and Anvar were asked to stand watch at the south end of camp. The night passed uneventfully. In the morning Wipa gathered us, saying we were going to learn to make snares. We were mostly successful with this. Wipa then asked us to step into our snares. All did so, with some avoiding damage. Anvar leaned into the damage. After some wound tending, we were led to where the Tapir's were by a 12 year old girl. Her inane babbling sapped the strength from some and taught others new skills. When we arrived we found 2 of the Giant Tapirs. They had both stepped in barbed poison snares. Nic was able to calm them & bring Gruk forward to help with removing the barbs. Gruk held the creature while Nic removed the barb from the first one. They then moved on to the second creature, also removing the barbs successfully. The Tapirs were quite happy with the help administered & began happily following Nic. As we made our way out of the glade we were attacked by 2 Kellid tribesman. We defeated them quickly, with only Zannok coming to any harm. We then returned back to the tribe. Nic and Gruk were asked to stand guard, with again no issues over the night. The group awoke the next morning refreshed and ready for another day!
