Deep into the caverns of Axeholm

Soon after entering the caverns we discover a Ghoul's nest! Our party is surprised, and Siegrane, who is at the front of our party is slashed at by multiple ghouls. Three ghouls land hits, one bites his leg, one slashes him on the shoulder. Siegrane feels the ghoul's numbing poison start to spread, but his Paladin light protects him, it does not however save him from the 15 damage he takes!! Pip steps forward taking two shots with his bow. One shot clatters to the stone, the other shot goes over Siegrane's head landing in a ghoul's chest. Caldae comes around the corner from the entrance to the cavern and begins forming a fireball in her hands, she flings it over Siegrane's head hitting the ghoul with the arrow in it's chest, knocking it backwards. Caldae then casts Healing Word on Siegrane and heals him for 4 damage. Howdore seems to be very tired and has fallen behind the group. Osha approaches the group of ghoul's raging and recklessly attack with her long sword, she thrusts through the door and stabs a hole in a ghoul's heart doing a ton of damage. Siegrane rears back with his warhammer, aiming at the ghoul, but he misses the ghoul. Siegrane tries to move away from the ghoul's but the ghoul slashes him in the leg under his shield, taking 6 damage. Alleraia uses her staff to heal Siegrane for 4 damage.
 
The ghouls begin pouring through the doorway, slashing at Osha and Siegrane. A heavily damaged ghoul attacks Siegrane but misses, the other Ghoul attacks Osha, but trips over some boards and accidentally slashes it's damaged friend, killing it. Pip takes aim with his bow, but in the enclosed space is unable to get a shot off. Caldae wild-shapes into a Giant Hyena and jumps on a ghoul that is hovering in the doorway, biting and clawing at the ghoul. She sinks a bite into the side of it's head ripping half of its head off, bursting out in a hyena howl. Droop tells Howdore to kill the "baddies". Howdore excitedly charges towards the door, unfortunately he is clumsy and Osha has to press against the wall to avoid being hit, Caldae in Hyena form tries to jump out of the way but Howdore swings his axe too wide and accidentally slices the Hyena in the leg , and also slices the dead body of a ghoul in half.
 
Osha deftly leaps over the body of ghouls blocking the doorway, sword drawn, and stabs a ghoul through the neck before she even lands on the floor. Killing it dead. Siegrane attempts to cast Nature's Wrath on one of the ghouls, but it easily gets out of the.way. Alleraia heals Siegrane for 3 points. The ghouls are on the attack again, this time going for Caldae in Hyena form, taking a huge chunk out of her leg causing 11 damage. Pip is angered at the damage done to Caldae and pulls back his bow sending an arrow into the neck of the ghoul who attacked her. Caldae wants revenge, and pounces on the ghoul ripping its head off. Killing the final ghoul.
 
Now we have a chance to inspect the room, on the west side of the room is a wooden manequinn with dwarven armor on it. Caldae goes over to sniff a pile of gnawed on bones. Nothing exciting is on them. There are some statues in the room that Caldae recognize as being part of a shrine. She sees a symbol carved at the base of one statue, a hammer and anvil, signifying MORADIN the Dwarven god of creation. Alleraia investigates a pile of weapons in the corner that seems to have been piled purposefully, they are well kept, and of a great variety. There is a rapier, a large battle axe, a trident, several axes, a maul, and a morning star. Pip grabs a rapier and Alleraia keeps the hatchet, giving it to Howdore to carry.
 
Siegrane exams the armor and finds the name "BARKUS" has been scratched onto the breast plate. Alleraia examines a skull on the table that is crushed in, but looks too large to be dwarven. There is a set of stairs off the room, and Siegranes hairs on his neck stand up as an erie noise echos down the stairs. Caldae has a very strong knowledge of spirits, and had briefly encountered one in her past. Based on her knowledge of Banshees, as relayed through Siegrane who used speak with animals, we decide a long rest is in order. We make our way back to the barracks previously explored by Siegrane and Caldae.
 
Once in the barracks we barricade the door and everyone but Caldae settles down to sleep. Caldae's watch goes fine, and nothing happens., until, a blue luminous form appears in the middle of the room. It looks like a young dwarf male, hair pulled back in a pony tail, not seeming to notice any of us. He walks to the cabinet in the room, pulls out a uniform, and walks back into the center of the room fading away into nothing. Caldae and Droop cuddle in the corner, terrified of what they've just seen. Pip wakes up for second watch and Caldae tells him about the glowing blue dwarf ghost. Alleraia feels a hand on her arm, as it is time for 3rd watch. . Pip explains about the ghosts. Osha wakes up in a foul mood to do 3rd watch with Alleraia. They eat some rations. Two hours go by without incident, but then an erie spectral form appears, walking forward and kneeling down in front of the firepit, looking like he's trying to light a fire. Suddently, he disappears without a trace. Osha did not see it, because she wasn't paying attention. She was thinking about her deep hatred for cats. Finally, 3rd watch ends without incident. Long rest successful!!
