Need to make money, need a new bed, Mining seeems easy...

It has been a few tendays here in Glennhaven, and bad news comes on the horizon with the heat. Tozawa Takamochi fell in battle, defending as many lives as he could at a matrimonial ceremony. A few men went out to discover what happened to there bodies, it hurt me to hear that the body of my friend was being used by some terrible small green creature as some sort of trophy. Samurai are duty bound to seek revenge for their lords, Takamochi was no lord, but he was my friend and I may no longer be a Samurai, but I remember the code.
 
I have spent many days in isolation, mourning, mostly staring at my chess set, expecting the other side to move of it's own accord, as if Takamochi's spirit wills the pieces. But I know it won't happen. This has given me time to think.....and to plan.
 
So apparently there are better beds, better furnishings and better kitchens for cooking. I think I would like to learn cook, or some hobby to pass the time, perhaps calligraphy, that is a popular one from my homeland. For now, I need more work, more money. Money certainly is important in Aetrus.
 
My strange Dwarven friend Ulgar comes from a family of mason's and says the stones around here are terrible for housing. He wants to go looking for a mine and we will see if Ser Edward Gerst of the Knights of the Elks will fund this little mining mission of his. I have patrolled with the Knights of the Elks, they are a good company, well rounded fighters and scouts. Their camp in Glennhavem feels a lot like home, some minor differences in customs and demeanor, but the military is common ground for any soldier. Commander Gerst will pay us and offers a near by mine and it'd deed to Ulgar, fine by me, not interested in running a business. I barrow a horse and cart from a few near by soldiers, had to pull rank on them, silly green horns.
 
Short two day ride and we arrive at the mine. Along the way, Lulubell tells Ulgar, myself and a well dressed half-orc named Atlas Ambrose that this place was infected with "aliens", whatever that means, and that a bunch of miners died horrible deaths. This Atlas fella seems cool as a cucmber, even cracks a joke, I like him. We enter the mind to find a dead body with a hole in it's chest, then another and another. Whatever it is, it's burst out from within. I'm certain I will be using my blades here today rather than a pickaxe, although I have one now.
 
We find a pool of water with tons of these chest bursting tadpoles within it. Strange disgusting little Creatures, definitely demon related. We venture further in and found the big one, the mama lizard demon alien thing. It's attempting to dig through the stone flooring for some reason, but we made short of the thing and took it head to show to Commander Gerst. After grabbing what gems we could from the stone, we set the bodies and the body of the creature a blaze with a bonfire. Apparently this is a normal Aetrus thing to do with the dead. We return to town, I'm gonna do some furniture shopping, then I'm going to find the right people to kill that creature and avenge my friend.
