Arrival in Gygraw:
Pull up to the inn ‘the God’s doorstep’
Something broke a church window, May eat people, highly doubt it
Two soldiers on horseback approach us.
Guards looking for Individuals (Orcs, Elves, FIRBOLGS). They have made a big alliance amongst several tactics.
Nickton knows a person in a pair that have attacked a noble in the town: their names were Rethlit and D’lawid.
WOOD ELF JUST APPEARED:
He overheard what the guards told us.
They’ve been invading the woods by expanding their town. His name is Vaemokkleir.
They went to go fight a Gryphon
Hutt out there: “Nice old lady” (Cunning Haydy) used to live out there but she was actually a hag in disguise. She’d been using the Gryphon to do bad stuff by holding its unborn hostage.
Count said slay the monster, brought back the head of a “beloved town’s person”. There was a brawl.
Count died, but he was brought back by a priest who was around. Also a Woodswalker died during an attack.
Count wants Woodswalkers dead for a death of an old woman, D’lawid wants count dead for the death of a lover.
Ipt’wyrr’gias: the queen in the thicket. Mentioned little barring one myth. Dryad banished from feywild for telling a story that didn’t please some form of high court.
We are welcome to the glade. Both sides will see us as betraying them. Sketchy stuff on both sides.
3 miles, walk along river bank until red knot tree, take left, drop rock into a pond: if it floats, turn left, if it sinks turn right.
We have a password to get into the special secret club.
Rowett Geals: he’s the bartender.
Plan:
Go investigate the witch’s hut.
Cunning Haydy’s house:
Pry off wooden boards with crowbar while I cast silent image so we don’t get caught for trespassing.
Blood along the back wall, all the way along.
3 lock boxes:
Middle: top half of clamour, rat skull on chain, large folded leaf, ‘black as night’ liquid, classic gnome goggles with a lense smashed (goggles of bright).
Left: connected to the floor. All that’s visible is a floor board that’s sealed back. Find a smaller box, Wand in a box.
The wand: it’s a wand. Sylvan. Made from wood on a tree that doesn’t grow in this realm.
Right: lots of junk from several repair jobs.
Detective Deregne’s investigation: finds a loose brick. Oaken door appears, parts shelves, blood spatter disappears.
OK We’re on a cliff now; WHAT?!
Awning, Cauldron and a chest of drawers.
Tesse starts looking through drawers almost instantly.
Large egg found in top drawer
Macabre grimoire found in middle drawer
Small sack doll in bottom drawer: called a poppit; it’s super fucked.
Cauldron: no idea what this could be.
Tesse looks in and proceeds to freak the fuck out.
Tesse’s backstory:
Born human in a village in Cerbourre. She doesn’t know her early life that well. She was kidnapped by a cult and was there for about 20 years. Kept in captivity in the mountains in a cave. They wanted to change her into something. Nickton helped her escape. Tesse and Nickton have been on the run ever since then; trying to escape the wrath of the cult.
They gave her one kindness in her time in captivity: books to learn from.
We take some blood, Tesse takes the grimoire.
Francis and Tesse go to the Count’s fortress.
OoC: It went great. Very great. Count has admitted he was wrong.
Me, Nickton and Levi go to the Woodswalker’s den.
Ipt’wyrr’gias’ tree: golden tree, Thick and tall, lot of hammocks. Surrounded by tents and carts. Best of roughly 20 people, bassy roar fills the air. Anchored immaterial realm, not a part of the feywild but it’s sheltered. Wood elf natives live in the tree, Orcs are staying temporarily. Slightly bigger tent also set there; both woodswalkers would usually stay there.
Ipt’wyrr’gias is a queen of Thicket. Best speak with respect to her cause she’s an old ass MFer. She’s a powerful Dryad, banished for telling a story one of the court head’s did not like.
Hair pulled back, eyes that have seen too much, cloth mask. This is D’lawid. Negotiations were tricky (cause we’re idiots) but
Setting up a meeting:
Meet in neutral location to talk.
Bring no weapons on either side.
Tell him to bring Rethlin’s weapon; it is a bow, bring no arrows.
Make sure the orcs can have safe passage and the grove is safe.
Count has sympathy for D’lawid. He is first to offer making amends. D’lawid is reluctant to call truce but does so.
The count gives us 70gp and either one of his bodyguards or a new bow for Nickton.
We gotta +1 bow.
We got a story fruit.
