Letter to Father

by Lady Coraelia Embergale

Hello Father,

I'm doing well in school. Davi is still showing off, but now he is developing skill, so it's less embarrassment and more impressive, at least to some girls and even boys. He is becoming popular for the stories he tells of our family being descended from pirates and his naval heritage. He is starting to attract a group that likes to listen to him and pretty much follow and are loyal to him. I'm hoping it doesn't go to his head. He still looks up to Rhaen and Varik, thankfully. I've been friendly with them too!

Zeph is doing well too. She is showing interest more and more into being a battle mage instead of a cleric like we thought she would be. She is far braver than I ever gave her credit for being. There has been some light teasing because of her hair color, but she has weathered it well and doesn't let it bother her. She also is making friends besides Zyrelle, thank goodness. She was starting to get a bit cringe with her attachment to Zyrelle, so I'm glad she has other friends too.

Speaking of friends, Darya is now my friend! I have actually made many friends, but I know you've been wanting an update about Darya. No family sailing secrets yet, but I consider her to be a good friend and I'm pretty sure she feels the same. It's hard to get her open up about her family, but I try to not push too hard, and she appreciates that. Apparently, others have tried to pry secrets out of her and it hasn't gone well for them. I'm glad she sees me as a friend. I will update you once I know anything new!

As for me, I witnessed the most amazing thing in combat class. Braeden Caerthal challenged Zyrelle after Captain Vexmere said that some people needed to be weeded out because there were too many students. Apparently Zyrelle had been training with Isobel outside of class, and the fight was incredible. She defended and let him wear himself out, and even told a story about meeting his now deceased father once that was inspiring. I will tell you all about it on my next home visit.

Suffice to say, things are never boring at Oathwatch. I am learning so much, and I know you would be proud. I love and miss you!

Cora
