Technically, he’s either a Devil or a Lich. We do not know. He’s only been encountered as a projection at the Hag’s lair, so even his true appearance is a mystery.

Nothing is known about Xerek at this point except that he was collaborating with a hag to collect the shiny magical coins.
 

Character Interaction

The party met a projection of Xerek in the hags hut after they drove her out.
 
Xerek is a relatively powerful devil who “owns” the lamp that protects Lamplight. The village made a deal with him that requires a sacrifice annually in order to keep the lamp in the town and therefore protect it. Xerek was working with the Night Hag whose cultists of The White Hand were kidnapping villagers to apparently sacrifice at The Well of Souls in the courtyard of the Night Hag’s lair in this plane.
 
Xerek made a non binding, no contract deal with the player. If they bring him the coins they find, the shiny new ones, and drop them into The Well of Souls, he will provide rewards, proportionate to their offering. He was nonspecific, and stated if they do not wish to participate, they can simply not bring any coins. This is a non binding agreement.
