Personal history

Aetheria's mother Ardra Bharur died shortly after her birth. Her father was so shocked by the birth of a daughter, the first born in several generations of Bharur history, he believed that Ardra had either been unfaithful to him, or that this child was a sign of his undoing. He kept these thoughts secret, not wanting to be embarrassed by the idea that his wife had cheated on him, but practically abandoned Aetheria from that moment forward, only appearing with her in public like a prop.
 
As Aetheria grew, she longed for the love of her father, unable to understand why he was so cold to her. Every effort she made to connect with him was met with a wall of ice. Rosla stepped in early on, acting as a motherly figure for the young princess. Aetheria became very close to both Rosla and Kalnja, the Breathnóirí women did everything they could to make her feel loved and wanted.
 
When Aetheria turned 19, a mysterious tiefling man started making acquaintance with her father, introduced to him through Vigrus Thoroughfair, the Arcane Advisor. She immediately could sense something was dangerous about him, and didn't trust her father's intentions. She went to Rosla and Kalnja, who quickly realized something sinister was stirring, and the three of them devised a plan. They learned that this mysterious person, known as Zierties Wymar was looking for something called the The Brazier of Worlds, and wanted to use Rhodan's resources to help locate it. In exchange, the man promised the emperor a great deal of power.
 
Disturbed by this information, Aetheria, Rosla and Kalnja spent the coming months devising a plan to try and find the Brazier first. Aetheria decided she would fake her death, and make it seem as though she was betrayed by Kalnja. Rosla would stay behind in the palace, and report her findings to them secretly.
 
They enlisted Thovior, the apprentice of Vigrus, to create an illusory copy of Aetheria, which Kalnja would kill and Rosla would then pursue her to help maintain the trust of Rhodan. She and Kalnja then fled Tarleigh, and spent the next six years trying to discover the location of the Brazier before her father did.
