Personal history
Shamash showed aptitude for channeling divine power at an early age. Religion is looked down upon in dragonborn society, since gods are known as real and not myth- as well as dragonkin being created to be slaves to proper dragons in the Old World. He found a home in the Silver Flame, a sect of dragonborn clerics and paladins who worship Bahamut. His gift for healing led to a group of elders approaching Shamash.
These elders were part of a secret society within the Silver Flame. He was instructed to ask no questions, but to make daily visits and use his healing abilities on a comatose elder. One day, the elder woke from his coma and begged Shamash to end his life, a violation of the First Mandate of the Silver Flame (Do No Harm). The elder named Tulprax explained to Shamash that the secret society was keeping him prisoner and siphoning off his unique divine powers. He lives an unusually long life, which the others were abusing against his wishes. Tulprax, too weak to fight back, could only take the power from the secret society if Shamash helped him die. Our intrepid dragonborn cleric showed mercy to the old dragonkin and made his passing go painlessly. When the secret society found out, they excommunicated Shamash from the Silver Flame for his part in the death of Tulprax.
Already an outsider because of his religion, now excommunicated... Shamash left the dragonborn capital to live among other races. He no longer followed the First Mandate, although that was not Bahamut's law, merely the Silver Flame's. Bahamut taught Shamash to always help the helpless, even if sometimes the only helpful thing to do was to send them to the next life. Life is death, death is rebirth. Shamash found a home amongst the clergy in the Belt of the Gods in Kaladel, as far away from the Vale as he could find civilized people.
Education
The Silver Flame taught Shamash about not only Bahamut and the other dragon gods, but all pantheons across Fandriel. Dragonborn were created in the Old World where gods reside. They know gods are entities capable of creation and destruction, and the gods have machinations and manipulations across all planes of existence.
Employment
A cleric within the Silver Flame, primarily as healer and scholar.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Liberating Tulprax from being abused by the secret society.
Failures & Embarrassments
After joining the party, I don't think he used Cure Wounds more than twice? Pffft you the main healer, Shamash! Slow clap.
Mental Trauma
Shunned since he was a hatchling, excommunicated in early adulthood. Manipulated by a secret society. Asked by comatose elder to help him die. Got knocked out in the first dungeon. Failed to keep party members alive in a few encounters. Died at the feet of some thieving bandit. Saw the afterlife. Returned to the shell of his mortal body.
Intellectual Characteristics
Him wasn't too smart but he read lots of books! About religions...
Morality & Philosophy
Shamash despised outright evil until his death. Revenge is now righteous rather than forgiveness. Bahamut is no different from any other god, manipulating mortals to fight his battles... Tiamat represents true power. You have to take what you deserve. Strike Hard. Strike Fast. No Mercy. Cobra Kai Never Dies and neither does Tiamat, a deity so revered she is known in other universes. You can literally not kill her because the belief from other realms keeps her alive. Only one other can boast such might but they do not have the stones to use such raw force like Tiamat does. This is where Shamash now draws his divine powers.
person.sexuality
I mean, who doesn't have a thing for a five headed dragon sorceress?
person.gender_identity
Straight male for a reptilian humanoid I guess?
Taboos
Fucking no butt stuff. Also, praying to gods. Embarassing.

Draconic, Common
Personality
Motivation
Original dream was to set up a bakery in each town run by local orphans and homeless so they would not starve and could earn money for shelter and clothes and better food.
(The math didn't work out, following a recipe I found and PHB prices per pound of flour, sugar, and salt. This wouldn't be profitable using the in-game rules. A few hours of math down the drain for a game character's charity work)
Now Shamash has the lust for power, which he may find by toppling the power structure in the Silver Flame when he exposes the elders keeping secrets of long life and manipulation.
Quotes & Catchphrases
Life is death, death is rebirth.
I'll knock you clear over the Western Ridge, fiend.

Dragonborn are not very humble or gracious. They want to be the best at everything. Like a Saiyan. They're impressed by deeds, and try to out-do others.
Shamash was prone to snap at people showing worship to their god, a product of dragonborn society rejecting the deities that created them for slavery.
