Worshippers of Bahamut typically join the Silver Flame: a collective of clerics, paladins, scholars, healers, and shamans. Although many are dragonborn, all of the DragonFather's children are welcomed into the sect.
Shamash was recognized at an early age to show aptitude for divine powers, earning him a place among the Silver Flame. A secret society of elders manipulate those with special gifts, including Shamash.
Beliefs
Those who study in the halls of the Silver Flame are scholars of all religions. The ancient dragonborn who came from the Old World know gods to be real. The ancients would gather texts from other faiths and study them for clues to the machinations of the gods. It is important to know the difference between revering a powerful deity and blindly believing in a higher power.
According to the Silver Flame,
Bahamut is the primary deity who personifies goodwill towards all of creation, who represents order and law. They do Bahamut's bidding in the war against chaos and evil, trying to keep in check all the dark forces that
Tiamat represents.
The Silver Flame and its followers are willing pawns in this battle, because they know the deities and the consequences to be real. The Silver Flame need not pray for favors from their god like other faiths. They are direct implements of Bahamut's will.
Shrines and Clergy
The clerics and paladins of the Silver Flame gather in shrines dedicated to Bahamut, mostly around the dragonborn capital of
Djerad Thymar. These shrines are one of the few examples of dragonborn architecture designed for aesthetic instead of utility, They are tall, exquisitely detailed ivory spires bearing sculptures of legendary wyrms and fallen heroes. The steeple at the top always bears a globe of platinum, a simple recognition of their deity rather than a vain idol of some sort. The extravagance is meant only to have a house worthy enough to host Bahamut himself.
A believer abroad usually designates a period of meditation to their deity, and if they are fortunate enough to have a residence they will have a space on the wall adorned with the likeness of Bahamut on a shield. When traveling, Silver Flame acolytes should spend their days healing the sick, doing good samaritan deeds, and stopping indecent acts they discover.
In the ivory spires are veteran instructors who teach the next generation of do-gooders. Scholars decipher the gods' plans from religious texts from all over Fandriel, and instruct newcomers in the struggles amongst the pantheons. Most members of the Silver Flame receive their orders in the war against chaos from Bahamut directly, filtered by visions or dreams so the god's consciousness does not overwhelm the mortal mind.
