Djerad Thymar
Shamash's birthplace. Capital of the Dragonborn, home to the clan.
A giant pyramid towers where dragonborn arrived from a different plane in ancient times. It remains functional as a center of government, hospital, hatchery, and bazaar all in one massive structure. Dragonborn have made their homes all around the pyramid, basic shelters perfect for the bare necessities. The few shrines to Bahamut you can find are elaborate, exquisitely crafted ivory towers- a place any religious dragonborn would be proud to host the DragonFather.
Dragonborn knew the gods to be real in the Old World where their prayers were never answered. After their escape to the material plane, it was looked down upon to worship such beings. This made dragonkin seem adversarial to other races, so dragonborn mostly stay to themselves. The dragonborn who do find faith in higher powers also believe other races' gods to be real- but scorn them for being dependent on gods to ease day-to-day worries. A dragonborn does not pray for rain, he diverts a stream. Dragonborn do not beg for help, they help themselves.
