Nef's new plan

Damn, that Captain sure looked pissed. Could be looking for us? Maybe a coincidence. Time to keep moving. Days getting long sitting in this Tree, listening the inane ramblings of my boring companions. The only saving grace here is I can likely leverage these guys into a horde of gold. If we survive that long.
 
Lost in the wilderness for days, our "guides" stumble upon a beaten down game path. First sign of anything we've had in a while. Not long till we find some food hanging from a tree just waiting for me. Score! Problem is this silly Gnome is hopping around up in the branches and decides to try to kill my new-found gold-getting buddies. Time to lay down the law. I save my band of misfits by scaring the crap out of him with my wicked crossbow. I take his food as my friends run away and being the magnanimous Goblin that I am, I offer them a share at a reasonable price. The stone guy coughs up the dough but the other three seem ungrateful for my services. I will remember that.
 
Fast forward to this podunk cluster of ripe-to-be-burned farm houses, the dwarf goes into town to get directions while I supervise camp being set up. Typical dwarf! He comes back with little to show other than the ale on his breath and some nonsense about a green door. I decide we should go investigate and the others follow me down.
 
The town inn is a ramshackle dump of a place with a beaten-down fat human brewing his own piss into ale. This will work. Few hours go by, no one has any gold to lose to me at dice, so I am thinking of getting some shut-eye. Next thing I know some guy with an arm looking like a spent candle comes charging in and collapses on the floor! What the hell man? The cleric guy rushes to his aid while I smartly interrogate candle-man's buddy for what happened and is it following him? Lots of non-answers till we get some sob story about kids and cages. Big deal! I inquire about a possible reward for checking into it when the horses start screaming. They was my last hope for making some coin from this farce, so it's best to go check. Shady goes first out the door and nearly stumbles into some black acid. Being wise, I waited a half-sec to make sure the coast was clear. That crap is dripping off the roof, so now I am looking up and for a way outta this joint.
