Personal history

Zalel is the younger child of Adriel Loratoris, brother to Macharis, and only child of Jalerian Swiftstream. When he was young Zalel thought to follow in his father's footsteps and become a fighter, planning to become a bodyguard to his diplomat sister once he was grown and fully trained, since his entire life all he wanted was to follow her to the exotic locations she was sent on behalf of K'veer. Macharis pulled some strings to get him trained with the Blue Guard so he could fulfill his dreams.
 
Zalel has always been a little strange, his whole life. Even as a child he was obsessed with fairness and justice, and he's never had much of a filter between his thoughts and his words. He hates lying and never does it, but has a fairly keen instinct for when he's being lied to, and he strongly dislikes people who can lie to his face without his insight twigging onto the fact. He finds it impossible to sit still; while he spends a great deal of his time pacing around, when he must sit he is constantly bouncing a leg or tapping his fingers or doing something to channel the immense amount of energy he's constantly trying to manage.

Employment

Zalel is currently in training with the Blue Guard of K'veer in pursuit of an assignment as a bodyguard to his diplomat sister, Macharis.

Intellectual Characteristics

Zalel's strongest driving impulse is curiosity. If something catches his attention, he will likely try to pursue it until he's satisfied with his understanding of it. His tendency to hyperfocus on his topics of interest means he's a very quick study. He is a terrible liar and knows that about himself, so he refuses to tell lies, although he has been known to withhold truth from time to time. Mostly, he says what's on his mind without much filtering between thought and comment.

Morality & Philosophy

Zalel tends to judge whether an action is morally correct by whether it is fair and just or not. He places a very high priority on people being treated with dignity and respect regardless of their origins, up to the point where they deny the same to other people, at which point... fuck 'em.

Sex wasn't really a thing Zalel had any interest in until Adinal kissed him, at which point his curiosity got involved. He's not in any rush through his exploration of the topic; he and Adinal are taking it relatively slow to find out what Zalel enjoys vs what is simply interesting because it's new to him. So far, they haven't done anything he hasn't genuinely enjoyed and wanted to repeat.
