One of Mic Elmond's personal enforcers, Jane Jilljack is a Burster or Fire Witch. A Changed Human, Jane can control smoke and fire. The Hawks ran into her in the work camp set up by Aber, Mary Cinder, and A. Smith at the Cut. Jane, Pigsty Pete, and Dave Q. were sent to retrieve the maps and seek revenge for the killing of Tuk and Carl. After the Hawks killed Pete in his tent and rescued Anderson, Jane flew into a rage and decided a full-frontal assault on the party was in order. The Hawks barely survived their encounter with Jane, who was prevented in just charring the lot of them by some fast-talk from Prof. Charles Volk. Jericho killed Dave Q. with a shotgun blast and succeeded in wounding Jane likewise. Jane escaped by casting the whole area into a cloud of toxic, blinding smoke. No body means that Jane is still out there, somewhere...
Jane Jilljack reappeared in the town of Elmont where she was rumored to be part of the group of Mic Elmond's Gang working with Braun Semmel to take control over the town after the chaos caused by the The Deep Lake Stone. As the Hawks returned to Elmont, they discovered that she and another man, Churl Boseman, had arrived separately from the rest of the Elmond forces. It was believed that these two arrived after reports of the Hawks being in town were received and that they goal was mainly one of dealing with the Hawks and retrieving the goods taken from Tuk and Carl. During the Battle of Elmont, Jane suffered a catastrophic failure of her powers, causing a large powerful explosion of fire to be centered around her, dazing her and knocking back several other members of the Town and Farm forces. This gave the Hawks just enough time to line up a shot with the TCS Scouter that pierced through Jilljack. For good measure, the Hawks drove their truck right over her body before coming to an abrupt stop and spilling their fight into the street.
