Right to the Bone 18

General Summary

Wyldfire

Wyldfire sets up a a choke point close to the door to the Ancient Wahoo Whatever. We're going to use "Monkey In The Middle", where we pick 1 target and everybody pummels that one until defeated.

Ten Kryptonian soldiers, a guy who thinks he's an armadillo, some woman who has beef with Blondie, two large mechas, and a Chicken Walker type vehicle all show up to fight us. After some fantastic taunting from Doc to the woman, Rán sends Armadillo to attack us and Doc promptly turns him to bowl over a batch of Kryptonian thugs.

Amythyst comes up out of the sandy cliff base to attack some troopers from behind. He throws one guy at another guy; 2nd guy is the one I figure is the current designated Monkey.

(Note for future ranting at Boss: Nooooobody is following the "Monkey" plan aimed at this guy (instead of aimed at Armadillo) from this point forward. He will not be sympathetic. I will not get yelled at any LESS for problems on this mission.)

Blackjack takes one guy's weapon away from him. Doc wraps Rán's web around her to keep her busy for a few seconds. When she gets loose, she jumps into the middle between me, Queen Mera, and Doc. That puts her in the perfect position to take an Atomic Hammer to the face. I'm still ripping layers of armor off this guy and Armadillo goes over my head, not under his own power, because Amythyst threw him.

They've started yelling about "mentalist" and "need a scanner" and who knows.

Armadillo does a Giant Sound Slap and that's a good excuse for pretending to lose my temper.

The sand next to Armadillo's foot forms into a giant fist and uppercuts straight into his chin. Then it does a One Finger Salute from the rock wall.

Thunderstrike throws his hammer and Rán catches it. She starts trying to crush it. The Atomic Hammer defends itself with an explosion of energy that hits everyone in a 2+ AP range. It knocks Doc across part of the sandstone ridge, Amythyst gets buried in a section of sandstone that turns to glass, Blackjack's escape teleport looked too bright and too big, I get buried in a sand avalanche, and Mera screams in pain.

You IDIOT!
— Thunderstrike to Rán

The mechas are in range to start shooting at Amythyst, but only so-so at aiming.

"Hello, monkey . . . ." I come at Armadillo's upper thighs and sink claws into the armor there, terrifying him and damaging his best tool at the same time. Pun probably intended? I dunno, I'm angry.

Doc yanks at Rán's net, intending to dump it into the superheated sand at one edge of the Atomic Hammer.

I'm going to do you a favor, Princeling . . . Let me help you with that path of ascension to the throne.
— Rán, walking over to do something lethal to Mera

  1. Why is the Atomic Hammer hitting Armadillo in the breadbasket instead of hitting Rán as intended?
  2. Why did it dump the two of us at the feet of the Chicken Walker vehicle??
  3. WHY DID IT COME INTO MY HAND?!?

Ow! I drop the hammer OF COURSE, because it's TOO HEAVY and more to the point because it's HOT and look at my burnt paw.
And then a BOLT OF LIGHTNING hits the hammer from NOWHERE and now it's GLOWING and HOVERING and
and
wtf

Impressive ... but this is why I am Queen.
— Mera to Rán

A giant fist of water comes straight up to hit Rán like a geyser.

All the mechas are now shooting at Doc, or more accurately where Doc used to be!

I climb up to the upper knee joint of the machine and raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage

Thunderstrike, who lost his temper first, goes into melee against Rán, who is baiting him by assaulting Mera. Some Kryptonians also shoot at Mera.

Amythyst is doing charging wall attacks with both hands full of lightning at groups of Kryptonian soldiers. In response, the operators of the Chicken Walker fire at him (and miss).

The two mechas fire at Thunderstrike. Thunderstrike phases out ... in Blackjack's grasp ... and then they both vanish completely.

Mera uses her trident to slam Rán square across the back.

Blackjack and Thunderstrike appear on the sandstone plateau behind the mechas. Thunderstrike runs to try to pick up one of the mechas by its leg, but it's a little heavy. I'm tearing through the "big animal leg" to make it fall down so I can rip open the torso in the near future.

Doc helps Thunderstrike's effort: they pick up that mecha and slam it over onto its side, staggering the other mecha tin the process.

Rán gets up. She pulls a small device out of her belt and slaps it against Queen Mera. "Tell your good-for-nothing husband 'hello'." As she pulls back, there's a blast of energy that looks similar to the Bifrost. It surrounds Mera, who grabs her trident to try to control it, and starts to make her disappear. Amythyst, being studly,

races over. He grabs the small device off Queen Mera. He slaps it onto Rán instead, right in the side of the head. She disappears while screaming in rage and pointing at Amythyst.

The Superman Theme plays and everyone cheers.

IA Stargate appears behind the chicken walker. I damage the chicken walker enough that it falls through the Stargate which becomes unstable, what with explosions and things. The Atomic Hammer grabs me and drags me through the air to near Thunderstrike. Blackjack is hurt and leaning on his bo staff to walk and FURIOUS and I am not supposed to take it out on Blondie, so I go after the fallen mecha's occupants.

Queen Mera tells Don that, to repair his hammer, she will need some specific parts. Some of which will be in Rán's lair, and the rest will be at either STAR Labs or LexLabs. Don says no. Don wants to ask Captain Fel Kur'Talak if he can help get the missing parts instead.

Don uses the Thanagarian device to contact Captain Fel, who is

in battle. . . .

To Be Continued

Notes

Feral has taken 1 mind point and 1 body point of damage, which will need (15-9=6) APs of time to heal up without taking further damage to reset the clock
