62. Tell me a Joke Report

General Summary

3rd Nymm, 999 YK

  • Warden investigates the King Tav, and Dax' Athla notes that the rotted rags inside are the first sign of decay they've seen within the Mournland.
  • Dax sends Zedd to scout both roads, and she observes a field of grey-ish grass to the north-east and a big ol' chasm to the north-west.
  • They test the field, and it's very sharp. They break some of the blades, and Lozaal takes some of them.
  • Lozaal frolics in the field and gets cut to shit, ow.
  • They decide to go around the field, which takes them a couple hours.
  • They then decide to rest.
  • Warden casts Tiny Hut and it goes...wrong. The hut is backwards, people inside are stuck inside and cannot see out, whilst creatures outside can see in and also enter the dome.
  • Warden attempts to dispel the hut, and it...warbles. The hut runs away, what have they done.
  • They sleep, and throughout the night they hear the hut rolling around.
  • Kalshana dreams again, a similar dream as before. She found herself in a city of sails and awnings, and the lighthouse.
  • She woke with a start and described the dream to Lozaal and Warden. Lozaal thinks the town sounds like Seaside.
  • Lozaal suggests that he knows someone in Darguun that might be able to help her.
  4th Nymm, 999 YK
  • Dax discusses the dreams with Kalshana, and suggests perhaps that Kal is being influenced by something, or that something is reaching out to her psionically.
  • Kalshana meditates and attempts to reach out, or open herself to this entity. She has the same "vision" as before, though this time a woman's voice says her name, and asks her to help them.
  • Zedd flies ahead to scout and finds the severed warforged colossus head. Zedd doesn't see a warehouse though, and upon landing, the head screams at her.
  • The party tentatively approach, leaving the wagon 100ft. away. Dax hops gradually closer on Zedd, and at about 20 feet away one of the colossus's eyes "opens" like a window, revealing a small old human woman.
  • The woman waves a wooden spoon at Dax and demands to know who she is and what she's doing. She says her and her friends are friendly, so the woman invites them in for tea.
  • The woman's name is Mauriana, she lives in a cavity in the colossus's head, above the mouth. She also has no tea, or water, so the party has to supply those.
  • It's a cozy fit in the head. Warden notices that she is growing goodberries somehow, out of little jars.
  • They talk to Mauriana for a bit, and ask her about the warehouse. She asks if this is a man that turns into a building, or if it's a building all the time.
  • She knows of it! She takes them outside and tells Dax to look at the ground.
  • Dax looks at the ground and sees nothing, prompting Mauriana to tell her to look past the ground.
  • She still sees nothing, but this prompts Warden to check. There is a camouflaged tarp above a set of heavy, rusted iron doors.
  • Mauriana demands that they each tell her a joke before they go down. They kinda do.
  • Warden gets Waterden to throw open the doors, revealing a staircase into a well lit bronze tiled corridor.
  • Warden sends Nova down into the tunnel, and Nova finds a dead body. The body is wearing House Cannith overalls and has an Eberron dragonshard poking out of their front pocket.
  • The party descends into the tunnel, leaving Mauriana, Zedd and the horses topside.
  • There is a set of heavy iron doors at the far end of the corridor, which is walled, floored and ceilinged with bronze tiles. They try to open the door but it's locked.
  • Lozaal tries to pick the lock, but it's not a mundane lock. This prompts Lozaal to ask to look at the dragonshard in the dead man's overalls, and he slots it into the lock.
  • The door opens!
  • It seems to be an underground storage area, a warehouse. It's full of metal materials, and a strongbox on the opposite wall.
  • There is a door to the north, leading to a small bedroom with a rotted mattress and a set of tinker's tools.
  • They check the strongbox for traps, it's not even locked. Lozaal opens it, revealing it is full of Eberron dragonshards.
  • The walls close behind them?
  • Lozaal investigates and tries to pry the walls apart with his crowbar. This earns him a full body punch from the wall. In the moment the wall surged forward, he spotted a bronze-bodied construct on the other side.
  • They investigate the storage room but don't find anything that can help.
  • Lozaal tries to talk to and reason with the constructs, but gets no reply.
  • Kalshana casts command on one of the wall panels, and orders it to retreat. It does so, revealing that the panels are actually the arms of these stout, bronze-bodied constructs.
  • The remaining construct punches Kalshana.
