Session 14: Out of the frying pan. Report

General Summary

You found yourself on the ledge looking into the cavern that purports to be The Elder Brotherhood Headquarters, a dark space lit by blazing sconces on the walls. As you lay there several men hurry past, evidently they are heading to the blaze that you started 20 minutes ago at the The Library, perhaps it's still burning and becoming more of an issue than previously suspected.

After the men have passed you slid down into the cavern and proceeded through into the tunnel leading towards where you suspect the Slaves of The Elder Brotherhood are being held. You move through the corridors cautiously and eventually come to a doorway that is blocked by a solid wooden bar that must only be simply lifted to unlock the doorway.   After listening intently you ascertain that there are several individuals sleeping on the other side and due to the crude nature of the door you feel this must be the slaves sleeping chambers. Opening the door you're delighted to find two figures sleeping, with gentle care you woke them and quietly explained the situation. They were able to impart some info that may prove helpful.
  • a total of eight slaves
  • two guards
  • and another man
  • they've not seen Henry Bourgios recently.
After this Gabriel 'Gayle' Garcìa dimention doors the slaves and himself into your room at [The Red Dragon Inn, which through some intuition you realise is directly above you.   Once in the room, the slaves are able to tell Gabe a bit about themselves and the other captives.
  • Edmund Mythey - Human male trained as a seamstress.
  • Vyncis Gare - Human female merchant selling craft ale.
  • Balika - Half-Orc warrior
  • Lorfinas Celioneth - Elven wine maker of high esteem.1
  • Nainan Icefoot - Dwarven female, origin unknown.1
  • Argen Parre - Halfling male thief
  • Krede Despan - Drow, origin unknown.
  • Lefty - human male origin unknown and appears to have been driven mad.
For some reason, the Dwarf, Nainan, very much dislikes and doesn't trust the Drow known as Krede Despan. At that Gabe dimension doors back to the cavern.   The party continued to move forward and soon came to a door that looked to be in better condition, inside you could hear a person sleeping. After a moment of conversation, you decided that it might be a risk to enter, perhaps the Leader of the Brotherhood lurks behind.   You moved on and rounded a corner and came face to face with double doors, beyond that was an island of stone and then a long corridor that ended at a left turn. At the head of this tunnel, a man stood draped in a heavy black cloak, he was unmoving.   With fierce intent Struth Hackett raced forwards and stabbed the man in the back, supported by Malar Naskin they were able to finish him off.   With that done Struth retreated as two enemy fighters advanced from the mine tunnel, leaving Mal and Dahlia to fend for themselves, which they do with stunning brilliance.   The second fighter advanced on the rest of the group and with the help of Petros' singing, they fell this enemy too.   For but a moment of this event Dahlia found herself immobilized by the mere sight of the black hole at the end of the tunnel.
What evil lurks there? Also how many slave should there be?

The Hole at the end of the tunnel.   1. Rescued and taken to the Red Dragon Inn by Gabe during this session.
