Session 4: Brawl at the Lyre Arch
General Summary
Back in the Conch & Coral in the Heart Of Shards, Ogvai had a dream, envisioning a desert with a light breeze shifting the grains of sand around the dunes. A voice spoke to him, telling him to be wary in Eleth Lilanor, to light the beacon. "Magic is meant for all. Cast down the false gods." He woke as the wind picked up and the sand obscured his vision. The next morning, the party was notified over breakfast that the tram north to Eleth Lilanor had arrived and would be departing that morning. They ate and headed to the tram station, positioning themselves to take note of the passengers. Doug and Ogvai sat at either end of the train, with the mirrors of teleportation set up to allow quick access between them if needed, while Rome sat in the middle of the car, passing the time swapping stories with a halfling wizard in rich purple and blue robes, a member of Mysterium Arcana. The tram ride finished uneventfully as the party disembarked on the lower level of Eleth Lilanor's tram station. They observed members of the Plainskeepers in significant numbers, observing the passengers, and a few members of the Hexalian Order. Ascending past the upper platform, for trams circling Myas'tara, they emerged into the bright light of the large open area in front of the Eternal's Resplendence, the temple dedicated to the Six. Knowing that Kina Veslynd lived somewhere behind the temple, partway up the multi-tiered fortress-like part of the city that climbed the Lilan Bluffs, they headed around the temple to the east, passing close to the easternmost of the seven archways, the Lyre Arch, dedicated to Lorinae The Auspicious. In front of the arch, they could see two guards in the Hexalian Order arguing with a group of dirty-looking gnomes and halflings. Approaching closer, the party overheard that the group was a troupe of acrobats wishing to pay tribute to their favoured deity, while the guards were turning them away simply for being acrobats. As the group's leader, an elderly male gnome, argued with the guards, one got violent, striking him. The party rushed in to intervene, with Ogvai hearing another whisper, to "strike a blow". The guards proved tough, but they managed to convince one to run back to the temple, and finished off the other as he retreated under the arch, threatening that Inquistor Verjat would be after them. Ogvai again heard a whisper, telling him "Well done, but now is the time to flee", and the party quickly retreated, finding rooms in the Torch & Tankard, an inn close to the Nythan Academy and Eternal's Hand.
