Currently, you can only set a single level of "significance" for an event, even though it may appear on multiple timelines - this undermines what would otherwise be a major attraction to the feature, namely being able to include the major life events of a hero in the timeline of their nation, or collate all individual timeline events into a single "master" timeline. Unfortunately, since a milestone event for one scale may be minor for another (said hero being born, for example, is the most important thing in their own timeline but may be only a point of reference in their nation's) the visuals of the timelines becomes distorted and it isn't worth doing.
The Team's Response
Honest answer that will be extremely hard to do AND will require to completely redesign the system to make significance a event-timeline specific thing. It can 100% happen but I would like to see a greater community buy in - in order to allocate time to do this :)

on 2021-12-01 00:21I just had a quick check of the other properties of events that might be specific to a timeline, since if you are going down this route, it makes sense to consider everything that might be different about the properties of an event within a different timeline but I think it is only the significance of the event that you would ever want to not be sharable. It would mean moving significance from an event table into a property of the event/timeline join table, and then the maintenance function changes in the UI might be a bit fiddly as well, but conceptually it makes sense. I can see the point of it, so a nice to have, if possible...
