Slash Command for Euclid editor

euclid slash-command bbcode

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

When editing in the Euclid editor it is possible to add articles with the mention system and Variables, Events, Images, Categories, Subscriber Containers and more with the guild mention system.   What is missing is this same ability for formatting features and other BBCodes.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

The slash command palette is a common way to address this issue to add formatting without having to touch the mouse or switch to a different page. An example are the Confluence wiki and ClickUp for a good slash command with a nice interface and an easy search functionality.   This would be most useful to create lists and tables faster especially if there were specific commands to define the size of the table and define the length of a list directly. Without having to touch the mouse.   Below the example from ClickUp:

What other uses could this feature cover?

This could be helpful to newer users and users who are not familiar with BBCode to find the right codes without having to look them up!

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion—we're partially accepting it! The new WYSIWYG (currently in development) will include a slash command system. We don't know yet if Euclid will get it too at a later date, so this last part is under investigation/discussion.

I love WA but I admit the learning curve is steep. I still don't know how to use all of the features, I just assume I'll figure it out when I need them. Point is any little thing that can be done to lower the curve can only be good.

WA has such a learning curve that anything that can be done to help new users get into the groove of things is a fantastic idea. Good one, SoulLink!

Without knowing how difficult something like this would be to implement, and since it seems relevant in plenty of other apps nowadays, I'd embrace (and appreciate!) this sort of functionality.

I know the BBCode by heart, but I can see the use for others.

ADHD, the struggle is real. My mouse is an endless, yawning portal of shiny, SHINY distraction. Once I'm in WA, I don't want to have to touch my mouse again until I'm done working.

I LOVE this idea, because even BEING a power user...I'm....okay, OLD -- and I forget enough that I am CONSTANTLY looking up the BBCode to make sure I "remember correctly", and it's a $W$#!!! pain. Truly, such a pain.   This would be fantastic. I'm adding my meager +300, and adding a "Pretty PLEASE?"

Love this idea. I would assume that a / followed by a space would mean you want an actual slash or some way to do that easily while still using the slash for the bbcode prompt.
