What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Tags are a very interesting feature because they allow to class an article in several categories. For instance "the prancy poney" can be tagged both with "Tavern" and with "Bree", or "Galadriel" tagged with "Elf" and "Lothlorien".
There are two major issues with the current system in my opinion:
1- when you want to add a tag to an article, it doesn't propose to you existing tags, which can lead to mistakes/duplicates. Example for taverns: if you're not careful and sometimes tag "tavern" and some other time "taverns", you'll have two different tags for the same thing
2- searching by tags isn't independant from searching articles. If a tag (lothlorien for example) is also the name of an article, the search will propose both the article and all the articles tagged by Lothlorien. If you were only searching the article you'll end up with many results you don't care.
3- this one is the main thing for me: you can't search using multiple tags. Example: you have correctly tagged every tavern of your world both with "tavern" and "cityname". If you want to get the list of all the taverns of Bree it's not possible, because either you search "tavern" and you'll get all the taverns of your world, not only the Bree ones, or you search "Bree" but you'll get all the Bree articles, not just the taverns.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
My proposal is that when you start typing a tag (either in the search bar or in the tag bar of an article), WA displays the existing tags:
On the tag bar of an article: clicking to the tag you want adds it to the article. Example: you type "char" and the system proposes the existing tags PlayerCharacter and NonPlayerCharacter, you then click on the one you want and it's added to the tags of the article
On the search bar: clicking to the tag you want adds it as a filter to the search.
Example: you type "elf" and the systems proposes the existing tag "Elf". You click on it, which adds it as a filter to the search and cleans the search bar (WA proposes all articles with this tag). Then you type "Loth" which proposes the existing tag "Lothlorien". Clicking the proposition adds it as another filter to the search, meaning that WA only display articles with both tags (for example "Galadriel", "Celeborn").
This would make the system incredibly flexible. A last example: when your players have seen a place or a character you can add the tag "SeenByPlayers" to the corresponding article. If later you ask yourself which places they have seen in a particular city which has many, you just have to search "name of the city" AND "SeenByPlayers" and you'll get the list
Sorry for the lengh of this and for the imperfect English which isn't my mother tongue!
The Team's Response
1 and 3 are definitely happening and .... they were already announced - 2 will not happen (if you need it, you need a better way to tag your things :) )
