What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

  The current system does not display tagged historical events using either the [tagged] or [historical] bbcodes. 

How does this feature request address the current situation?

  I am suggesting using an already existing tag feature to also be able to display historical events in addition to articles. This way events can be cited in articles and other places much like tagging articles works. Further, it would be really nice to display the historical event “timeline” visual as the popover (including the associated characters and whatnot) so that it mirrors the “look” of current timeline events but doesn’t require embedding a full timeline which can be wieldy. 

What are other uses for this feature request?

It’s a pretty straightforward request that mostly mirrors the way tagging works with articles.
