map button ui ux alteration quality-of-life
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
There is no default way to get back to a map that you left using a direct pin to another map. While there is a workaround by using a direct link pin back to the 'main/parent' map within the 'sub/child' map, this is not intuitive either to the viewer of the map or the person creating it. A simple button like the one articles that takes you back to the world's homepage would be nicer and more obvious.
It could even be a toggleable feature, perhaps.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
A default button to return someone to a previous or 'parent' map would end the clunkiness of having to manually set up a pin specificly for that purpose and remove a number of steps creators have to take to implement that workaround. It would just be a small QoL improvement!
What are other uses for this feature request?
None that I can think of.
The Team's Response
There is a good and solid case to be made about Map inheritance since maps TEND to have only one parent (there are exceptions to this)
I would like to think a bit more about the connection of a map to it's parent and if it should be directly or via the related articles system - this is a bit confusing right now and it does need some love, I will grant you that. So this is being accepted as an investigation task.
