tables interactivetables import export csv

Currently, the Tables have a .csv importer, however it is extremely limited in the scope that it can import specific content- and it is not at all capable of importing documents from programs such as Google Sheets or other Table content editors' exported files.

Many users, including myself, likely use forms of Google Sheets, Microsoft Spreadsheet, etc for their initial working enviornment due to how easy the UI is, this would allow users to take work done already on these sites / programs and export them using tools like this already made to export these files and then import them into our worlds. Perhaps there are some current workarounds, however those of us with large sets of tables to import would have to comb through hours of work just to get it into interactive tables.

Also, if possible allow for the .csv to import the code for comments, which can be added in spreadsheet tables.

These comments provide an insight to certain contents of tables- like for instance a quick definition or explanation of an abbreviation.

The Team's Response

The tables importing issues will be addressed with Boromir, the new version of the API for World Anvil that will be released - probably - before the end of the year. The API will allow for the development of unlimited types of importing into the tables.

I have way too tables to copy and its way too slow by the current method.   Seeing how good some people are at tables I can only imagine their pain

I totally support this! A possible substitute would be another site or application which will easily change the tables from Google Sheets or Excel into the proper .csv format and then import it, if someone can point us to it? I don't know enough about the subject unfortunately but such programs probably already exist and are free.
