Zorian Dwarves

Long before humans became the dominant species in the known world, dwarven kingdoms spanned across the mountains and hills of modern day Kaeol and Veruun. Many older dwarves remember the days when they dominated the southern continent through their military might and unrivaled skill with metalworking. Few long for the return of the wars between the dwarven kings of old, however. These conflicts decimated many clans and extinguished others completely.
The destruction nature of conquest is never far from the minds of dwarven elders, and younger generations are instructed in their history from an early age. Most modern day dwarven clans prefer to serve as the living memory of the lands in which they reside, providing wise counsel to the shorter lived races that is too often unheeded. It is fairly common to find dwarves in public service throughout the southern continent. The military and religious orders in particular appeal to many dwarves' desire to protect and preserve.
