Yun's mother was a prostitute and she didn't know who Yun's father was because of the multitude of men she has slept with. When Yun was 6, his mother was caught up in some gang affairs which ended up in her getting killed. These same gang members then came to her apartment where Yun still was, and planned on ransacking the place and taking anything and would have most likely kidnapped Yun if not for Katsumi who overheard the plans and that there was a child there. Before the thugs could get through the door, they were taken down, and Katsumi came inside to take care of Yun who was very scared and just wanted his mom. Katsumi brought Yun to stay with him for the time being and ended up adopting him. Yun has been living there with him since.
