The great war of the Darkness who took over most of the Mortal Kingdoms with his dark minions. Some mortals were corrupted by his dark power, others fell in battle. With no heroes to ward off the evil legions, nothing could stop the Darkness and his powers to take over. It tore down, burned, and defiled the temples of the Gods that the people had forgotten. The heroes, never returned, and evil subdued the righteous. Empires were broken; Kingdoms became vassals; Lords became serfs. The Darkness crawled over the mountains, through the land, into the air, no one could escape from its tyranny.
Barovia
The valley of Barovia was the oldest and best known of the Domains of Dread. Originally a location in a forgotten world of the Prime Material plane, the entire valley was transported to the Shadowfell by mists controlled by evil entities known as the Dark Powers. The realm was a prison for its darklord, the vampire Strahd von Zarovich, as well as the entire population of the valley. Current Time Adventurers went int 971-6-23.
