Backstory

Mist was born to a Water Genie named Oceana and a human father named Kade. Word was that he seduced Oceana in order to have rain for the crop season during a dry spell. She became pregnant and learned of his deception and dumped the child on him before departing back to her plane of existence. Kade wanted nothing to do with the child and dropped her off at a local orphanage.
She grew up there, and the orphanage being a religious place, taught her how to master her natural talents for water magic and fine tune it. The town worshipped many gods and goddess's but she felt this natural pull towards Nynir, God of the Stars and Votune, Goddess of Seasons.
At the age of 15, she was sent out of the orphanage to fend for herself. Living on the streets made her privy to how to steal and stealth her way out of sticky situations. The natural beauty she held made it easy to deceive men into giving her things that she needed. She came across a man who offered her a choice, he turn her in for stealing from him or she do a task for him. He could see her potential and she hesitantly agreed to avoid jail. He told her he was Ian Parnish.

Barovia

Came to Barovia where she was wooed by Strahd and the lust for power.  Left the party to be invited to Ravenloft where she was turned into a vampire spawn by Strahd, given the gift of immortality, and shown the secrets to the Dark Temple.
She swore fidelity to Strahd and to serve him to the death, doing any request no matter how depraved or insane.
