Bool, Goddess of Oblivion Character in Zin | World Anvil

Bool, Goddess of Oblivion

Deity, BBEG

Bool, also known as the Darkness, was the main driving force with the Hordes of Bool on the hell bent destruction of Zin, and toppling over the civilizations of mortals and elves during The Last War. Her motives remain somewhat a mystery.     It is rumored, and researched by various adventurers in recovering tombs from the Temple of Ina, and Amber Temple Vault , that Bool is Zephyrus, God of the West Wind. During The Last War she destroyed her brothers Boreas, God of the North Wind and Notus, God of the South Wind, her last brother Eurus, God of the East Wind survived and his lair is in The Whispering Volcanos in Orrin.

Accounts from the Last War:

"After the heroes left to the western lands, she came, like shadow and flame, scourched earth was left where she tread. With her breath and word, the living were turned to shadow, no iron, steel or gold remained. Nothing could satiate her annihilation of the living and the world that was left was miserable. Those who did not die, were left as tributaries for her unending destruction of those who remained, as her armies expanded in all directions sparing none from her wraith." -Unknown Hero

Taken from the Godstone of Bool in the Amber Temple:

Black… cold…. nothingness... hopelessness…   A dragon, beautiful and gold scaled shimmers in the bright sun as it flies through the endless blue sky with blistering speed, it peers below with its reptile eyes to the forests below, which stretch into the horizon and are like a green blur.   Searching… looking… a fire on the horizon… but no one is there… it blazes over uncontrollably in the deep wood… Nothing can stop it…   “Where did you go…?” A woman’s soft voice reaches out to you…   The dragon is here now... in a royal court of prideful kings… but now in the skin of beautiful elvish woman… The royal kings and their petty crowns are arguing… debating... uncompromising… trouble and turmoil stir throughout the lands.   “Did you not hear me…?” The vision burns away… into a dark, moonless night…   The dragon glides over the vast oceans in a night… the wind rips over her beautiful gold scales that glisten like jewels in the starlight. She frantically is searching for help to stop the fires made by the sins of mortal’s hearts…. The lust for power, gluttony for worldly bobbles and desires, the envy over others, and no one is left to show mercy to the innocent and weak….   She flies almost like the wind itself, tearing through the dark clouds; she sails through the mountain ridges, and climbs up upon the tallest peak in all of the lands, she screams out in a ferocious roar…. But no one answers… there are no heroes left to hear the desperate plea… her tears of sadness shake off her gleaming eyes into the stary night and twinkle.   The blaze of fire rages, hotter than any forge you have felt… the vision burns to the next…   You see her now… the flawless gold dragon… desperate… hopelessly traveling through planes of the void, of light and then darkness, shifting through them where the Gods not treed, and mortals were never meant to stray to…   “Come back…” the dragon’s voice beacons.   Finally, you peer and see the mighty gold dragon… her scales fading, no light to shimmer upon… no tears left to cry… crawls upon a shadowy reflection of earth, men, women, figures made of feint light. The world of shadow passes on… no sounds is heard… Life does not walk here anymore… Half-forgotten memories… a coldness… an emptiness… hopelessness fills your heart… and your eyes begin to blacken…   “Have you finally returned…?” She questions.   Souls of mortals made of mist and feint light, like echos, now swirl above in a sky filled with erupting dark clouds, disturbed with streaks of white lightning. The souls twist downward and let out haunting screams as they struggle to swim against mist and the darkness. They are being pulled into a shadow, a void of nothingness… consumed.   From the darkness you hear a fierce growl of anger… “You will never leave us again…”

Goddess of Darkness:

Nothing changes except for how you perceive everything. She does not arrive so much as summon you. And for a beat that your heart misses, you are alone with her—so utterly alone, together. Then all existence catches up and leaks slowly into place around you. But for that instant you saw her as she knows herself: the mother to all life and the world—she who existed before all and who will live to see all end. Just as every light is born in darkness, it dies in darkness. How could she be anything other than this, as beautiful and as distant and uncaring as the stars?
