Scramboots

Scramboots are a type of flight equipment utilized primarily by specialist Pact infantry to enable high-speed traversal across the battlefield. The equipment resembles oversized boots with attached thrusters. Despite their name, the boots use rockets, rather than scramjets, for flight—it’s commonly accepted among Pact soldiers that the name “scram” came from the boots’ ability to ensure rapid escape from dangerous situations, though the validity of this claim is uncertain.

Scramboots enable the user to hover roughly one meter above the ground or “jump” forward to rapidly reposition themself. They also allow the user to engage in controlled freefalls, which can become vital in rugged landscapes or urban environments. A considerable part of Scramboot proficiency relies on the user’s instincts and reflexes, meaning that their use is often limited to highly trained or especially reckless soldiers. Among the latter are Gun-dancers, whose fascination with daring and deadly combat maneuvers makes them eager users of this equipment.
