TAK 1 Report - A Tower of Trouble

General Summary

Scene 1: City square

The players witnessed the failed execution of C'thubb'mal in the city square.
Alex (Jamie) tried chatting up a large loxodon but just made them uncomfortable
The other Expedition leaders (Max, Fizz, Nessos) rescue C'thubb'mal and they run off - Matt tries to intervene but doesn't get very far
The players then introduce themselves to each other and head west to the tower district

Scene 2: Tower District

The players talk to the Tower Expedition leaders and learn names & faces, but not much else.
Alex tries to confont C'thubb'mal about not wanting to be rescued but gets interrupted by Aa'shen entering the tower. Everyone except Adran gowes in with him. They fight the imps on floor 1 and emerge victorious. Meanwhile, Adran inquired about buying health potions (10G for a 1d4 health potion) and then entered the tower seperately, fleeing when he saw the imps.
The players then all met up and made their to the Mysterious Pigeon Inn, locatied in the main city.

Scene 3: The Mysterious Pigeon Inn

The party bought beds for 1 silver / night (brekkie not included) and went to sleep.

Morning

You arrive in Firresse and the first thing you think to do I to go and visit the famous Tower of Aph. It's so tall that you could see it from well beyond the city, even days before you arrived. As you make your way towards it, you enter a walled area that surrounds it - the guards at the gate don't stop you but they inform you that the area is called the Tower District, and it operates under different laws.
You reach the tower and see a group of people you don't recognise emerging from a door in the front, clearly battered and bruised. You've heard on your travels that the Tower is a sort of layered dungeon, and it would seem that these people fled after failing to clear a floor. You overhear them talking about going gambling somewhere to take their mind off things, and you invite yourself along.

Early afternoon

You arrive at an inn called 'the Mysterious Pigeon Inn', so named because all of the staff are kenku and such, where you play some poker and bet on meaningless things. You lost a lot and earn slightly less. (Lose 1 gold)
As you gamble, you talk to the other people you walked here with and learn that they make an adventuring party, although they can't agree on a good name for themselves.
They are:
  • Filly, the halfling ranger, who seems really cheery and a bit hyperactive.
  • Lokas the human fighter, who's a bit of a downer, by which I mean he grumbles aloud about how the whole world is against him whenever he loses, and downplays things when he wins.
  • Kalil the human sorcerer, who is very brash and rude and just seems a bit.. off... to you, but you can't quite describe it. Like there's a mismatch in how he looks and how he acts.
  • Mish the human cleric, who casually threatens to kill people when she loses a game to them, which includes you once or twice. It strikes you as fairly un-cleric-like.
  • Grabber the kobold, who doesn't really understand gambling but likes coins so he's basically most of the way there. You do have to stop him from just straight up nicking things from you a few times though.
  • After playing a fair few games, you decide to head off to see if you can find some kind of performance.

    Late Afternoon

As you walk to where you've heard a travelling circus has set up, you get the feeling that someone's following you. You're passing though the slums at this point, and the crowds are thinning enough that you can see that a figure with their hood pulled up seems to be talking you from a distance, stopping when you stop and crossing the carriageway when you cross.
    (now summary from in-person convo)
Wipfaarr turns around to confont the figure, who backs off and stops following him. He goes to a travelling circus in the slums, which is fairly empty due to the recent outbreak of Heartfire Blight (which I don't explicity name, just saying that peope are 'coughing up ash').
After the performance, he speaks to the ringleader and offers to join, showing off his ribbon-dancing-esque whip movements. He's rejected since there isn't any space for him.
He then makes his way back to the aforementioned Pigeon Inn, where he buys a room and turns himself in.
