The Baneguard
Structure
The Baneguard is led by a Commander, who appoints captains who manage sections of the wall. These captains appoint lieutenants who lead groups of soldiers.
Public Agenda
The goal of the Baneguard is to keep people away from the last remnants of Dragonbane present in and around the Old Capital.
History
The Baneguard were founded in 1252 in order to stop people from obtaining the Dragonbane that remains in the ruins of the Old Capital.
Demography and Population
The Baneguard has one of the most diverse populations in Zelunica. They are the second most welcoming place in Zelunica for draconians, the first being Ikrenia.
Territories
The Baneguard occupies the area around the Old Capital, on the edge of the wasteland.
Military
The Baneguard is a large professional standing army. Most of The Baneguard's soldiers defend the wall, but groups of soldiers are sometimes sent out to do mercenary work. They do not participate in wars between countries.
Melee Infantry
The Baneguard fields a large amount of melee infantry. Their standard armor consists of gambeson, mail, brigandine, leather boots, gauntlets, and helmet. Their standard arms are halberd, arming sword, and heater shield.Ranged Infantry
The Baneguard fields a large amount of ranged infantry. Their standard armor consists of gambeson, mail, brigandine, leather boots, leather gloves, and helmet. Their standard arms are bow with mundane, alchemical, and enchanted arrows, arming sword, and buckler.Flying Infantry
The Baneguard fields a small amount of flying infantry. Most are Gryphons, and some are Draconians. Their standard armor consists of gambeson, mail, cuisses, greaves, leather turnshoes, gauntlets, and helmet. Their standard arms are spear, crossbow with mundane, alchemical, and enchanted bolts, and arming sword.Cavalry
The Baneguard has a moderate amount of heavy cavalry. Their standard armor consists of gambeson, mail, brigandine, cuisses, greaves, leather turnshoes, gauntlets, and helmet. Their standard arms are lance, hammer, and heater shield.Mages
The Baneguard has a moderate amount of mages. Mages will typically operate within other divisions, and their equipment is the same as the division they're in. The only time that mages operate separately is when casting multi-mage ritual spells.Large Artillery
The Baneguard has ballistae and catapults with mundane, magical, and alchemical ammunition.Technological Level
The Baneguard has modern weapons and armor, good alchemy, and intermediate magic.
Religion
The Baneguard has no official religion, but Kera is quite popular.
Agriculture & Industry
The people of The Baneguard are mostly self-sufficient, and grow a wide variety of crops. They produce all of their own weapons and armor, as well as their own potions, poisons, etc.
Education
Children are educated in schools that were first established fifty years after the Baneguard was founded. Classes in these schools are typically taught by retired soldiers. In addition to many of the expected typical classes, these schools teach basic combat and survivalist skills.
Infrastructure
Roads in the Baneguard's territory are generally well-maintained.
