The Longship
The Norseman's Longship is the go-to vessel for traveling the seas if you are a Norseman. While their sizes and purposes differ, all longships have the same few defining features. As the name implies, they are "long" ships, usually 8-10 times longer than they are wide. While having oars running the entire length of the longship on both sides, the ships also have a singular mast and a rectangular cloth sail. Some of the longships carried small rowboats to assist in exploration and raids while others were wider with more cargo space to better serve trading merchants. The Norseman Longship can be used in long-distance sea travel, short-distance island hopping, upstream and downstream rivers, and as a traveling home for the sailors in them. They are made of wood and so are light and easy to carry over land or to be flipped and used as a shelter out of water.
Propulsion
The Longship moves fastest when the wind is carrying it, but can also be rowed if that is not possible at the time.
Weapons & Armament
The Longship's weapons are usually the people on the ship itself. This ranges from arrows, boarding parties, and javelins, to even the occasional magic caster.
Armor and defense
The sides of the longship is usually covered in shields that can be removed. Aside from that, this ship usually relies on speed in both offense and defense. Some of the bigger and more expensive ships boast wards to prevent fire and most ranged attacks from being effective.
