Athenium Archive
Perched atop a gentle incline in Harmonia Heights, The Athenium Archive stands as a beacon of knowledge and unity. Founded in 4736 by Archivist Lumen Grey, an esteemed elf scholar displaced by the war, the Archive was one of the first institutions established in Ever-Stone to symbolize the merging of cultures and the preservation of shared histories.
The Archive houses an extensive collection:
- Historical Texts: Original manuscripts detailing the histories of Fra-Shandan, the Empire of Olliveria, and Ever-Stone.
- Magical Tomes: Rare spellbooks, alchemical treatises, and scrolls of ancient wisdom.
- Scholarly Works: Philosophical dissertations, scientific research, and cultural studies contributed by scholars from across the realms.
- Art and Artifacts: Galleries displaying relics, sculptures, and paintings that capture the artistic heritage of various cultures.
- Research Assistance: Skilled scribes and assistants help visitors navigate the vast collections.
- Public Lectures and Debates: Regular events featuring notable thinkers, fostering intellectual discourse.
- Archives Preservation: Collaborative projects to restore and preserve aging documents, often involving volunteers from the community.
Architecture
The Archive's exterior is a harmonious fusion of styles. The foundation and main structure showcase dwarven stonecraft, with sturdy walls carved from the mountain's own granite. Elven influence is evident in the graceful spires that reach skyward, adorned with delicate filigree and intertwined vine motifs. The central dome is particularly striking, etched with constellations and celestial patterns that shimmer under both sunlight and moonlight.
Stained-glass windows depict significant historical events, myths, and legends from both dwarven and elven lore. These windows cast colorful beams of light into the interior during the day, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and reverence.
Upon entering, visitors are greeted by the grand Hall of Knowledge, a vast chamber with soaring ceilings supported by elaborately carved pillars featuring motifs of dragons, trees, and geometric patterns symbolizing the earth and sky. The floors are polished marble inlaid with mosaics illustrating the history of Ever-Stone.
