Vorthali River Turtle

"While not particularly hostile, the river turtle has immense destructive capabilities and tends to employ said capabilities just by moving."   -Ferdinand Hertalson
The Vorthali river turtle is one of the largest and most rare creatures seen within the jungle as it buries itself underneath rivers and may only move once every twenty years, unless otherwise provoked.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The largest known creature to inhabit Vorthal, the female river turtle can grow over 100 feet tall and nearly 500 feet in length, with males averaging at around half this size. Its weight can vary greatly, as sediment becomes lodged in the crevices of its shell, growing plants such as trees. The shell is typically a dark-brown or black with a pale yellow banding around the edge. Their skin can be from dark-green to dark-brown or black and yellow spots often dot their heads erratically.

Ecology and Habitats

River turtles tend to live near water, or more specifically under it, usually burying themselves under rivers or ponds for years. This "hibernation" lets other organisms, even those like trees, to take root on top of the turtle. If the turtle should decide to move, whether to relocate or to eat, it will destroy the land it occupies and the new land it chooses to live in.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

It is very hard to gauge their sensory abilities given their size and their slow movement, which is perceived from their slow reactions.
