Vorthali Centipede
The Vorthali Centipede is considered one of the most deadly creatures in the Great Vorthali Forest; if its size wasn't intimidating enough, its venomous bite can paralyze prey for up to 12 hours. Despite this, the centipedes are usually timid, unless threatened.
Basic Information
Anatomy
"I've seen big bugs; spiders the size of a man or more. I have never seen a bug that big." -Beedle WanderstoneThe Vorthali centipede is unique mainly in its size, reaching lengths of over 150 feet and growing an exoskeleton up to several inches thick. When born, the centipede starts with 4 pairs of legs, going through successive molting until they have 13 pairs. Their mandibles grow over a foot in length and are strong enough to tear steel, yet the centipede relies on its forcipules, modifications of its front limbs, that bear sharp claws and toxin glands in order to effectively hunt.
Ecology and Habitats
Mostly found within the Great Vorthali Forest, these centipedes tend to stick close to water, either in swamps or wetlands, although they have been recorded as far south as the edges of the Iceveil. The centipedes don't nest and instead wander aimlessly hoping to stumble across a potential prey.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
While the centipedes don't have sight, they do have light receptacles. Most of their sense, however, is derived from their antennae.
