Dragon Iguana

"You'd think the damn beasty would keep its distance, but the damn lizard'll run up on ye before you've got a chance to back off. You don't happen to have a spare set of trousers? Seems he burned the rear out of mine..."   -Beedle Wanderstone
Also known as the "wingless dragon", the dragon iguana is known for its dragon-like looks and its ability to breathe fire.

Basic Information

Anatomy

An adult dragon iguana can grow up to 45 feet in length and weighs around 230 pounds. The tail comprises much of the total length, a little over half, and a row of spines grow down their spine along the tail. The tail can be used as a whip for powerful strikes against predators and, like smaller iguanas, can be allowed to detach, allowing for escape and eventually regrowth.   The leaf-shaped iguana tooth is incredibly sharp, and act as a powerful defense.   The dragon iguana can be a variety of colors, depending on location, ranging from blue to green or even a reddish-brown. Unlike real dragons, however, their color doesn't change their breath and all dragon iguanas breath fire.   Their fire breath is actually a poison mist that ignites as it leaves the iguana's mouth, creating a poisonous vapor in the air. The spray can reach up to 20 feet, and sticks to surfaces, continuing to burn for up to a minute.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Despite their vicious looking teeth and potent poison, the dragon iguana is a herbivore, eating mostly Mombin, but also flowers of various species. The iguana is, however, very territorial and violent. They often nest near water, and like to rest in larger trees.
