Jakup Crowe was born in 582 BL by the Federation's calendar. He was, according to Obril legend, the first person to have the title First Citizen, which he earned by founding the Academy of Destruction and leading a corps of warmages he personally trained to a successful battle against Orcish tribes to the North.
That corps would become known as the Blackwing Corps, bearing Crowe's own personal insignia of black wings on a field of white on their robes. These Blackwings were the best of the best; of all the students at the academy, these were the students that Crowe himself chose to be his personal students.
Crowe himself hasn’t been seen in hundreds of years, but the Blackwings to this day believe that he still lives and that one day he will return, bearing much new arcane knowledge to share. Some in the Blackwings revere Crowe as an avatar of Hashet, or even as a god of magic himself. This heresy is tolerated because of the importance, and power, of the Blackwings. Each leader of the Blackwing Corps is granted the title First Citizen in Jakup Crowe’s honor.
