Liamar
Written by Namlyn Runlaked, Natural Historian, Chemyl Academy
In the center of the Gildryg Sea, lying deep on the seabed is the renowned city of Liamar. I have interviewed many Water Yanryl to bring you this synopsis of the city as I am unable to visit it myself.

Industry & Trade
Many Water Yanryl are involved in trade. Some accompany the ships of the land-walking races as guards and guides. Others man their own ships, carrying cargo from one place to another.
In Liamar, many goods are created to trade to the land-walking races. The primary crafted exports are products made from one type of sea weed. They typically make fabric or straps with this fiber. While it is not a soft fabric, it is extremely durable and withstands moisture without stretching. Many Land and Air Yanryl use these products for their body harnesses as it lasts longer than leather. Additionally, of course, they export fish, other edible sea creatures, and sea produce.
Liamar imports forged metal tools and weapons as the creation of such things underwater is difficult. The Liamaryl metal mages are able to enchant the metal items so that they can withstand the erosion caused by sea water. Additionally, produce is imported to add variety to their diet.
Architecture
From a distance, the city of Liamar resembles a beautiful ring of flowers with long, narrow petals reaching up away from the seabed. The "petals" are actually stone towers, some of which are straight and point directly toward the surface, while others start straight, but curve gently toward the center or the outside of the "ring". Metal rods or cables are used to secure the towers to each other at varying heights.
A second and third set of concentric circles made up of small, isolated towers surround the ring of Liamar. These towers each hold several families. Members of these families are charged with patrolling the waters above and around their homes, alert for threats so that they may speedily alert the city in times of trouble.
Geography
At the center of the city, there is a break in the earth. From this break emerges a constant rushing column of very hot white water. The water is so hot that no one can swim near it. However, it does provide a constant source of heat to the area.
Surrounding the geyser at a safe distance, the city of Liamar forms the shape of a ring around it. The land is naturally higher in that area and their buildings are built there in the manner noted above. Plant life of the most beautiful colors is encouraged to grow at the base of the buildings as well as on specially built containers between the wire connecting the buildings at higher elevations. This, in turn, attracts schools of brightly colored fish which swim in and around the city.
