Baqubair Settlement in Zameen | World Anvil

Baqubair

Baqubair is a sprawling city formed by the gradual merger of several large settlements. While not nearly as dense as Khasahn or Zabiqia, its wide borders contain diverse communities founded around equally diverse microeconomies.    A huge source of the city's wealth comes in the form of vast orchards of white mulberry trees, and the silkworms that feed on those trees. This makes the city the continent's largest producer of raw silk, some of which is worked by local artisans into ropes and and a small amount of textiles, but most of which is shipped to Zabiqia to be dyed and then formed into garments by local tailors.   Baqubair also claims several of the largest salt mines of the continent, much of which is shipped through Zabiqia to Scytharia and the Karthin Cities for food seasoning and preservation.   Baqubair is the only real agricultural competitor Khasahn has, featuring sweeping rice fields, extensively and painstakingly irrigated from local oases, most of which have been magically enhanced at great expense to the land owners.
