Redrift
Sanctuary of the Severed | “Where silence is sacred, and pain remembers.”
Overview
Redrift is more than a stronghold—it is a wound made livable. Built into the shattered remnants of a fallen temple, its stone walls and sanctums are forged from the detritus of divine ruin and reclaimed Cathedral bones.
The name Redrift speaks to the ley fractures beneath—where reality has split and rejoined imperfectly, leaving time, sound, and memory unstable. It is said the Severance found this place not by map, but by echo—drawn to the silence between screams.
Geography & Structure
Winding cliffside paths, hanging bridges, and veil-draped corridors connect the major districts of Redrift. Stained arches and sootstone vaults house residences, watchposts, supply caches, and pain-shrines.
Leystatic hums through every surface. Glyphs of muffling and memory-warding are carved into lintels and walls. Ritual pyres burn day and night—not for warmth, but to ward off psychic hauntstorms.
Unique Features
Sound-Dampening Veils
Initiates and operatives wear shadow-thread veils to guard against haunt-echoes—psychic remnants of the massacres once performed in these canyons.
The Sealframe Kiln
A desecrated Radiant Flame forge, now used to craft Voidglass alloy weapons and burn cursed sigils from flesh and relic.
The Wound Below
An unstable ley-chasm sealed beneath Redrift's foundation. A divine rupture, perhaps. Some whisper it hums in response to rage—and grief.
The Ember Archive
A soot-carved vault where the stories of every fallen rebel are etched in griefscript. The Archive has begun recording Valmaia’s tale, page by page, in the silence between ritual hymns.
Government & Leadership
Redrift is ruled communally by The Council of the Severed, composed of war-scarred commanders, arcanist-scribes, and branded prophets. Vengeance missions are carried out by elite strike groups called Ashbands.
Military Defense
- Ashbands – Mobile, ruthless strike teams trained in canyon warfare, ambush, and sabotage.
- Gorgecallers – Echo-wielding sound-mages who weaponize pressure waves and ley resonance.
- Void-Fletchers – Archers trained with voidglass arrowheads, capable of silencing spellcasters and banishing summoned entities.
Culture & Philosophy
- Freedom is wrenched, not won.
- Scarratives: Personal history carved into skin—each line a moment of survival.
- Singing is forbidden. Instead, emotional resonance is shared through low hum-tones—a sonic language of resistance and unity.
