Touzir

Touzir is a region of central Zada dominated by the Great Lakes, which have resulted in the Touzir Basin being more habitable than anywhere else outside of the Imperial Heartlands. As such, Touzir is the most populous, as well as prosperous, Imperial Region. It is primarily populated by ethnic Zelfanites, though there are populations from all Imperial Nations within it, even small numbers of Paarmiut.
The Touzir Basin was discovered by Zelfanite tribesmen around the time that the World-King descended to Zada, though the rest of Zada did not become aware of it until much later. In 479 a group of explorers from Rihal, led by Aqer Al-Kubra, a distant relative of the Rihalite king, discovered the Touzir Basin. They were shortly thereafter set upon by Zelfanite tribesmen, who did not appear to recognise the Nelkheti Empire's authority, nor be a part of the Zelfanite confederation. Al-Kubra and several others were able to escape the vile clutches of the traitorous rebels, and alert authorities in Upper Rihal of their findings.
In response to the attack on the Rihalite expedition, the World-King ordered the construction of the Trans-Zelfanite Railway, and the raising of a great host to do battle with the forces of disorder that had so brazenly occupied a section of the World-King's domain. Several years later, upon the completion of the railway, a section of the Imperial Peacekeeping Forces¹ was deployed to Touzir and neutralised the threat, and the greatest of the Touziri lakes was named in honour of their victory.
Since the region's pacification, it has become the foremost region for colonisation and many crops, both staples and luxuries, are now grown in the region, before being transported by rail to the Takhreib or Rihal, or to supply the colonies of the Gaanheib. The Great Lakes, Lake Victory in particular, are also now home to extensive fishing operations.
