"Nearly a month has passed since the end of the Great War, and a new generation of heroes has risen up to take on the mantle left by the fallen; as more travelers make the Last Rest Tavern their home and regular trade and commerce becomes established between the tavern's residents and the Kingdom of Falinor, temporary stalls and camps surrounding the main structure begin to take on an air of greater permanence, and before long what was once an isolated inn on the edge of the wilderness has turned into a small but bustling settlement. Wagons full of building materials are carted in from the west, scaffolding is erected, and the sound of hammers on wood become commonplace for adventurers walking the now well-traveled paths of what is becoming known simply as the Last Rest. Soon enough, a small guildhall is established near the tavern into which Jebbediah Quill moves the Cartographers' operations, a modest contingent of Falinor soldiers arrive to station a squat guardtower on the edge of town and can be seen patrolling among the common folk to keep the peace, and several traveling merchants decide to set up shop along the main thoroughfare. As for the original proprietor of the land, Liam Stonegrowth's furrowed brow and tightly crossed arms grow more furrowed and tight with each hammer blow--until a royal messenger arrives one day and delivers him a hefty sum for allowing the realm to expand on his land, along with the title of provisional mayor of the new settlement. With greater prosperity, however, comes the risk that the dangers still lurking within the Reach Unsung may be all the more drawn to the burgeoning bastion of civilization, and a growing unease begins to set in among the guard and any adventurers paying attention to the aura of evil that can at times be felt from somewhere just beyond the horizon."
