Vyn
[WIP]
Backstory
Vyn's Grandfather was a fairy liaison to other races and was made an official, high-ranking member of the court. His ultimate goal was for all living creatures to live in harmony but he was willing to "bend the [fae] rules" to achieve his ends. He was politically savvy, willing to kill if necessary and forced the rest of the world to take fae seriously. He was the first/only fairy to hold a position of power like this. He was in the process of training Vyn's mother to be his successor when he was brutally assassinated by an unknown assailant. There are lots of possible assassins - other fairies who didn't like his representation of them, those who believe fairies shouldn't hold positions in court, political enemies, etc. Vyn's mother had recently given birth to baby Vyn (father unknown/undisclosed) when this happened. Terrified for her life and the life of her baby, mother fled the court and took refuge with a group of fairies in a nearby forest. They had detested Vyn's grandfather, but are fully committed to not harming others so they allowed Vyn and their mother to stay. They take "do no harm" to the nth degree and view themselves as superior to everyone else because of it. Vyn's mother married one of them and raised Vyn to believe that was Vyn's father. Vyn always felt like they didn't fully belong. One day, Vyn overheard their parents fighting about them. After questioning their mom, they learned this backstory and realized that the other fairies in the group were always watching them for signs that they were similar to their grandfather. They wanted to learn more about their grandfather, but mom was too scared that they would be kicked out of the tribe. Vyn viewed mom's sucking up to the tribe as a betrayal. Vyn decided to leave the tribe and attempt to finish what thier grandfather started: show the world that the fae are strong and be in a position of power in order to restore harmony to all living creatures.
