Glass Candle

An expensive type of lamp, glass candles rely on diluted kearei and fiber rope to create fire light out of a portable glass vase. As the art of glassmaking has been kept secret by Clan Shayenau, and kearei is dangerous to get, glass candles are incredibly rare.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The glass vase has a wide but short base, with a narrow but tall neck. The neck may have slits or holes in it, with small bumps underneath each opening. The base's surface is commonly shaped into unique designs with fine tools. Fancier designs may be painted into the grooves or display inlaid materials such as metal, precious stones, and polished obsidian.

The base is filled with crude kearei, diluted with enough water that the normally crimson-black liquid appears transparent with a brownish red tint. A densely twisted portion of twine is inserted into the glass vase. The bottom of the twine continuously soaks up kearei while the top is lit with fire. The diluted kearei keeps the twine burning for a long period of time, while also making the fire produce enough heat and light for nighttime use.
