Fuhenmori
Fuhenmori is a continent in the Northeast corner of Yumihari, a land of vast forests with every imaginable type of tree—and many plants so bizarre that nothing anywhere else in the world compares. The land is so thick with primal ki that even the caverns found deep beneath the earth are teeming with flora and fauna. Such concentration of energy is incompatible with the typical human, however, and most cannot breathe the air and survive.
Instead, the land is occupied by the Kazura (葛), a humanoid race of plant people birthed by some of the most ancient trees on the continent.
Geography
Over ninety percent of Fuhenmori's landmass is covered in some variety of forest, be that tropical rainforests, boreal, acadian, and many other varieties, with the ten percent of open land appearing around the most northern tips and the highest altitudes of the mountain range covering the centre of the lower half of the continent.
Fauna & Flora
Although located in the highest latitudes of Yumihari, Fuhenmori is home to millions of different species of flora and fauna, but most stunning are the trees, which cover the continent from end to end. A traveller might make the journey across the continent both entirely through the tree canopy, never setting foot on the forest floor, and never glimpsing true sunlight.
That does not mean everything is covered in darkness. Many types of trees glow all different shades of the rainbow, and if the stories of the kazura are true, then the different colours represent the millions of different emotions the trees experience from day to day throughout their lifetimes. Some kazura speak of a rare species of bird that feeds on the solar energy of the sun and roams the darkness of the Eternal Forest, illuminating paths for lost travellers, granting wishes to those who catch them.
There are also many species of bioluminescent insects, moss, and fungi, more than one could catalogue in an entire lifetime. The kazura are fond of one species of moss, which they crossbreed and mutate for different colours, using them as decorations for their homes, both those on the ground and in the caves, and the villages they house in the trees.
Most curious are the dragons. Many species exist throughout Yumihari, and yet there there are serpents of the trees themselves, so ancient that they—
The records after this point are damaged beyond recovery.
History
An anonymous adventurer marked Fuhenmori as a discovered location on her maps of Yumihari, but many of her notes on the continent have yet to be translated and decoded. After some investigation, it seems that some of her notes might also have been lost. We hope this obstruction wasn't caused by nefarious means.
