Jakkurin
Jakkurin, located east of Malnarr, is a continent of dramatic contrasts. It features vast deserts like the Anjeta Desert, lush tropical jungles in the Kanthar, and towering peaks such as the Krolun Mountains. The Rivers of Darkia provide fertile land amidst the desert, while the Glass Sea stands as a mysterious, salt-crusted landscape in the desert’s heart. This varied geography supports diverse ecosystems and civilizations.
The continent's ecosystems range from arid deserts to dense subtropical jungles. The deserts are home to hardy, drought-resistant plants and animals adapted to extreme temperature shifts, while the jungles are filled with vibrant flora and fauna. The jungles experience distinct wet and dry seasons, adding to the complexity of life cycles, while the mountainous regions support alpine wildlife and vegetation.
Geography
Anjeda Desert: Covering approximately 60% of Jakkurin, this desert is characterized by rolling dunes, perilous sandstorms, and extreme temperatures. It hosts ruins from forgotten empires and is a challenging environment for any who attempt to traverse it.
The Willy Sea: A dry, salt-crusted expanse at the desert's heart, shimmering under the sun and famous for its mystical mirages.
Krolun Peaks: Towering, snow-capped mountains that act as a natural barrier along the northern and western coasts. They are home to hidden monasteries, villages clinging to cliffs, and sacred sites.
Rivers of Darkia: Fertile river valleys cut through the southern mountains, sustaining agriculture and the powerful Kingdom of Darkia
Kanthar Jungle: A tropical rainforest in the south teeming with life, canopy cities, and ancient ruins. Two sacred rivers flow through here—the Vayu and Nara—holding great mystical significance.
Ecosystem
Deserts: Harsh, dry environments with scarce plant life, dominated by cacti and other drought-resistant flora.
Mountainous regions: These support alpine flora and fauna, with creatures adapted to high altitudes and cold temperatures.
Jungles: Lush rainforests filled with dense vegetation, vibrant wildlife, and ancient mystical creatures.
Ecosystem Cycles
Jakkurin's ecosystem cycles are driven by the dramatic shifts in temperature between day and night in the desert, monsoon-like rains in the Kanthar Jungle, and seasonal snowmelt in the Krolun Peaks. In the desert, plants and animals have adapted to extreme heat in the day and cold at night. Meanwhile, the tropical jungle follows regular wet and dry seasons, influencing plant growth and migration patterns of creatures.
Localized Phenomena
The Willy Sea Mirages: An area of the desert known for creating optical illusions, luring travelers off course.
Vayu and Nara Mystical Currents: These rivers are said to carry divine energy, making them not only sources of life but also of spiritual enlightenment. Many
scholars study them to unlock the secrets of Artts (magic).
Magha Overcharge: In regions with high magic use, the lingering residue of magical energy can cause strange phenomena like mutated creatures or warped environments.
Climate
Desert: Scorching hot days and freezing nights.
Mountainous: Harsh, cold climates with snow at higher elevations.
Tropical Rainforest: Warm, humid, and subject to monsoons.
Fauna & Flora
Desert Flora: Includes hardy plants like cacti and desert flowers. Fauna includes reptiles, sand-dwelling rodents, and large predatory birds.
Mountain Flora: Alpine herbs and shrubs, with mountain goats and feral creatures residing in the higher altitudes.
Rainforest Flora: Towering trees, bioluminescent plants, and dense undergrowth. Fauna includes both mundane and magical creatures—some may be part spirit, especially near ancient ruins.
Natural Resources
Magical Artifacts: Found in ruins, particularly in the Kanthar Jungle.
Precious Metals and Gems: Mined from the Krolun Peaks.
Spices and Herbs: From the jungles, which are valuable for trade and Artts-based alchemy.
History
The Holy Kanlura Order: Once the most powerful religious organization on Ysanaf, the Order once spanned much of the world but now holds power primarily in Jakkurin.
Rise of Kingdoms: Kingdoms like Darkia thrive along fertile rivers, becoming centers of agriculture and magic.
Decline of the Order: Internal divisions and pressure from expanding empires like Nyaan led to its retreat. Jakkurin remains a place where the remnants of this once-mighty Order are still felt.
Tourism
Pilgrimages: To the sacred Krolun Peaks and the chamber believed to house the slumbering deity, Quisai.
Exploration of Ruins: Treasure hunters and adventurers explore the ancient ruins scattered across the Kanthar Jungle, seeking lost knowledge and magical relics.
