Faceless Crawler

The faceless crawler is an aberrant creature born from the primordial chaos of creation. The crawler appears as a bipedal humanoid with webbed hands and feet and a smooth, featureless face. The creature's body is comprised almost entirely of a thick blood-like substance held together by a thin membranous exoskeleton. Faceless crawlers tend to live in cool, moist environments, as their exoskeleton has the potential to crack or rupture if it dries out or is exposed to direct heat.

Abilities

The faceless crawler feeds on the essences of other creatures. If it consumes the essence of a humanoid creature, it gains the ability to replicate it almost perfectly. The crawler also gains access to any memories its prey may have had, allowing it to better disguise itself.
The faceless crawler is a relentless hunter. When a crawler has selected its prey, it will hunt that creature until it has successfully absorbed its essence. The crawler will break away only when it needs to feed, and some have been known to feast upon the loved ones of individuals who were unlucky enough to become the creature's target so that it may get closer to its ultimate prey.

Weaknesses

As mentioned, the faceless crawler struggles when exposed to extreme heat or dry conditions, as its exoskeleton becomes frail and often cracks. If you have access to any fire-based magic or anything that can be ignited, it's recommended to use that. Some spellcasters have found reasonable success with spells that drain a target of their water, however this strategy rarely works quickly enough to save the target of the faceless crawler.
