Susan Beauchief was born to minor nobility. A distant relative of her mother was married to the son of the King's Brother's Wife's Father's Uncle. Needless to say, she has paraded around that link all her life. Her station in Quantium was restricted by the general chaos of the times, but her family and her were able to live quite comfortable for very little effort through their connections. Her father invested heavily in shipping companies which netted him a steady return as food became more scarce. Despite being used to luxury, she did have a dream of becoming more involved. Growing up she wished to marry a noble and assist in matters of court, but her fate became sealed when she grew fond of a certain John Beauchief.

Susan became enamoured with John around the same time her father did. John was a wonderful character, loud, boisterous and most importantly, ambitious. Despite having recently had a failure in his cotton business, John immediately began to look for investors into his reclaimed building materials venture. His passion eventually won around Susan's father, and in an effort to satisfy his daughter's desire to be involved, her father sent her to liaise with John on multiple business meetings. They fell in love. Despite John being below her station, she convinced her father to allow the marriage claiming it would be of benefit for their legacy to be tied with this feisty young man.

She will only tolerate luxury, no more, no less. The move to Autumnfall was tough on her in this respect but she decided in the long run it would bring her a more permanent and wonderful type of luxury. If they wished, in her eyes, they could be kings in this new world.
