Anya was born as part of a group of elves that lived on the Ruins of Kho before the Rift hit. Her father was the medicine man for her people, it was hoped one day she would follow in his steps, however she never showed the aptitude required for the role.
Not much is known of her past, or how she ended up joining the expedition to the new world, but whatever traumas she went through have left her in a world of her own. Wilbert Tosscobble has noted that likely her own world is the world where she is able to live, due to the stress of whatever the real world has thrown at her.
