Morningcall

Morningcalls are small domesticated birds that make loud calls in the mornings, and are used as alarms in many places on Greenerth. They are a small passerine, and are found in the grasslands of the Region of Sarra.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Morningcalls have a small, cylindrical body, with short feathers. These feathers are a dark green, with the occasional brown and blue patch on its wings, and a lighter stomach with fluffier feathers. Their tails are straight and short, and when flying fan out slightly. They have a round head, with a wide black beak. Their legs are short and black, with 4 toes, two facing forwards and two facing backwards.

Genetics and Reproduction

Morningcalls make simple nests in tree cavities or in bushes, laying 6-7 plain white eggs. They lay these eggs in mid-late Uribar. The eggs are about 1cm in diameter. These eggs in the wild often get preyed on by a host of predators, and ones in urban areas can get eaten by pets.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Morningcalls feed on insects in the wild, catching them mid-air during dawn and dusk, around ponds and lakes where lots of insects live. During midday they like to hunt them down in wooded areas, catching critters rustling through the leaves on the ground.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Morningcalls are a common pet in the Region of Sarra, especially north of Cau'Le Forest in Galdasar and its neighbouring cities. They are kept in cages and their morning calls will tell their owners whether or not the day will be good or bad, as morningcalls have the ability to predict the positivity of the near future.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Morningcalls have the ability to predict the near future, and have the ability to detect things that are good or bad, or the things in the near future that are good or bad. This comes in handy, because people use these birds as alarms; if the bird wakes them up with a call, then something good will happen. If there is no call, then something bad will happen that day.
